Ireland's Grid-connected Photovoltaic Capacity Reached 1 GW

Ireland's National Radio reported on February 26 that ESB Networks confirmed that 1 GW of solar PV has now been connected to the grid. Ireland's electricity system has a peak demand of about 5.5 GW, and 1 GW of PV can power about 400,000 homes. Eamon Ryan, Ireland's climate minister, said the country plans to install 8GW of solar capacity by 2030.
