International renewable energy developer Atlas CanadianSolar has received approval from the government of New South Wales (NSW), Australia, to build a 250MW Gunning solar farm and a 150MW/600MWh four-hour battery storage project on the Southern Plateau.

The $430 million solar farm and battery storage project will be built on a 676-hectare site near Gunning, about 245 kilometres southwest of Sydney, and will be connected to the national Grid via a 330kV transmission line near Transgrid.

Nasdaq-listed Arthas Solar, a major supplier of solar panels and project developer, said the project will improve grid stability and energy security by generating and storing excess solar power on-site and dispatching it during periods of peak demand.
