Recently, the Solar Energy Manufacturers Alliance of America (SEMA) published a report on the United States' dependence on Chinese-made modules, which pointed out that most of the defects in the U.S. manufacturing industry are related to the silicon ingots and silicon wafers industry. Even with moves to expand U.S. manufacturing, the U.S. will remain heavily dependent on overseas products. They called for "strengthening domestic supply chains to produce solar panels."
