4.4GW New solar power generation Brazil's new photovoltaic power generation has become a hot spot

Since January 2022, the country has added 15GW of PV capacity. In 2023 alone, it will deploy 4.4GW of new solar power, of which 3.15 GW will come from distributed generation and 124 GW from utility-scale PV.

According to the latest data from the Brazilian energy regulator Aneel, the installed solar capacity in Brazil reached 30 GW. Of this, about 15 GW of capacity has been deployed in the past 17 months. In the first five months of 2023, Brazilian developers deployed about 4.39 percent of new PV capacity, 3.1 GW of which came from distributed generation systems operating under the country's Net Metering program, which includes all PV systems up to 5 MW in size. About 21 GW of the total installed capacity comes from distributed generation systems, with the remaining 9 GW coming from large-scale solar power plants. Of the distributed generation capacity, about 10 GW comes from residential PV systems with a capacity of less than 7 kW.

Aneel reports that there are still more than 102 GW of winning projects under construction or development in centralized power generation. Larger projects are expected to support the development of a free market and provide power for energy-intensive green hydrogen production Most distributed solar power in Brazil is installed at the consumption site, with the system providing energy to the installed units.
